On June 20th, of 2024, I had the wonderful experience of attending my first The Lakes Region Celebration with The Laconia Daily Sun. This event serves as the finale at the end of our annual Best of The Lakes Region competition, an event where local businesses compete for either gold or silver placement in their respective categories.
This year, I not only had the opportunity to manage my own personal list of clients throughout the competition, but also held a vital seat on the celebration planning committee. We were lucky enough to have Gunstock Ski Resort, one of our competition sponsors, host the event, a feat which took several months to organize. My main role, aside from the basics of ordering table cloths, extra tables, signage, and organizing volunteers, was to recruit and organize food vendors. This task consisted of reaching out to several restaurants we regularly worked with to see if they wanted to attend, collecting information on what each vendor was bringing for food, documenting what supplies each vendor needed, relaying set up information, and ensuring each vendor got to their table on the day of the event. In total, we had ten restaurants participating.
Additionally, we also had a severe thunderstorm roll though during the tail end of the event set-up. As we had not only vendors outside, but also live entertainment, tables, a planned flash mob, and a bar on the patio, my team and I had to quickly regroup and rethink our event layout so we could swiftly bring everyone inside. Thankfully, we were able to think on our feet and make the last minute accommodations.
All that being said, the event was a major success with over 300 in attendance and a wonderful way to celebrate the finale of The Lakes Region competition.
